21 Jump Street Tops Weekend Box Office

This weekend, 21 Jump Street proved it had the gusto to take the number one spot from The Lorax, which has been at the top of the box office for the past two weeks.

The action comedy starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum brought in $35 million its opening weekend while The Lorax, in its third week, managed to gross $22.8 million.

Also in its debut weekend, Will Ferrell's Casa De Mi Padra opened at the number 9 spot grossing $2.2 million.

Taylor Kitsch's fantasy flick John Carter nabbed the number three spot with $13.5 million.

Rounding out the top 10: Thomas Mann's Project X ($4 million), Eddie Murphy's A Thousand Words ($3.7 million), Roselyn Sanchez's Act of Valor ($3.6 million), Ryan Reynolds' Safe House ($2.8 million), Josh Hutcherson's Journey 2: The Mysterious Island ($2.4 million) and Reese Witherspoon's This Means War ($2.1 million).
