The casting announcements keep coming!
On August 8, Lionsgate announced hunky actor Alan Ritchson, 27, will play Gloss in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The actress who will play Gloss' sister, Cashmere, has yet to be revealed. The siblings will compete on behalf of District 1 in the deadly Quarter Quell, which occurs every 25 years in the post-apocalyptic land of Panem.
Ritchson is perhaps best-known for his role on Spike TV's Blue Mountain State, which ran for three seasons until November 2011. He also played Aquaman on The CW's Smallville and modeled for Abercrombie and Fitch.
Directed by Francis Lawrence, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins production this fall. Original cast members Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth will reprise their central roles, while Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jena Malone, Meta Golding, Amanda Plummer and Lynn Cohen join Ritchson as new cast members.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is in theaters November 22, 2013. The final book in author Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay, will be split into two movies; they will be released on November 21, 2014 and November 20, 2015.
