Ashton Kutcher on social media, filling Charlie Sheen's shoes
With more than 7 million Twitter followers and his frequent speaking engagements at tech conferences like Fortune's Brainstorm and TechCrunch Disrupt, it's safe to call Ashton Kutcher a social-media guru. So it's only fitting that Ashton is the cover boy for Details magazine's exclusive online-only issue, which is available on Facebook and flipboard from Aug. 8-16.
In the digital issue, Ashton talks about the fact that social media has given ordinary people a true voice, in his opinion, one of the most powerful features of platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

"You just can't say s*** anymore, because people have the ability to speak up."
Kutcher recently found himself caught up in that type of scrutiny, when the Village Voice called him out for citing spurious statistics in his advocacy against child prostitution. The actor fought back, calling their online adult classifieds "a digital brothel."
Now he's speaking up about the highly-publicized beef, admitting to Details that he "definitely [has to] take responsibility for misrepresenting the data," but at the same time calling it "irresponsible journalism" on the company's part.
Kutcher also defends the claim that today's social media is blurring the lines between online life and real life, saying, "technology is just mapping and organizing what already exists. If you're an a**hole offline, you're probably an a**hole online. ... At the end of the day, if you're not doing anything wrong you don't have anything to hide."
As for his highly-anticipated return to television replacing Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men," he remains tight-lipped, joking that his new character is "somewhere between an alien and Jesus Christ."
But as for the awkwardness that has to come with filling Sheen's shoes after his very public firing? Kutcher remarks that he doesn't "know him" personally. But it's only fitting that Kutcher received congratulations and well-wishes from Sheen -- via Twitter.
