New year, new relationship status, new lip color.
Taylor Swift might be "really down" in the aftermath of her breakup from Jake Gyllenhaal, but the 21-year-old knows that there's no better revenge than looking smoking hot.
Instead of sticking with her signature ruby red lipstick, Swift debuted a bold orange-y red color at the People's Choice Awards and CoverGirl's 50th Anniversary party. Not exactly a major "break-over," but the subtle shade switch still makes a statement ("I'm so over you," perhaps?).
"The pop of color complemented the light color of the dress," says the star's makeup artist, Lorrie Turk. To steal Swift's standout lips, first line your mouth with a creamy red pencil to help the color stay through the night. Then, apply a bright orange-y red (Turk used CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Flame, $6.99, drugstore.com). Keep the rest of your makeup simple so the focus is on your lips.
We can't wait to see what other post-split beauty surprises Swift has up her sleeve.
