First Lady Michelle Obama, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver were also on hand for Saturday's memorial service for Sargent Shriver -- the brother-in-law of John F. Kennedy. Musical tributes were given by Wyclef Jean and U2's Bono.
Former governor Schwarzenegger and his wife Maria -- the only daughter of Sargent Shriver -- helped carry the casket into the family's church in Potomac, Md. Maria said her family took comfort in "knowing that Daddy is in heaven with God and with Mummy," the Associated Press reported.
Sargent Shriver's other children also spoke of their father's legacy. Tim Shriver -- now chairman and CEO of the Special Olympics -- said his father never coddled the children but "coached us to pursue those big, big ideas," according to AP.
Wyclef Jean played the piano and sang "All the Ends of the Earth" and later Vanessa Williams sang "Soon
and Very Soon."
The 95-year-old Shriver was a businessman, lawyer and prominent politician. He will be buried later Saturday in the same cemetery as his wife in Hyannis, Mass. His late wife, Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver, passed away in 2009 at age 88.
