A new busy mom of two! Busy Philipps welcomed a baby girl with husband Marc Silverstein on Tuesday, July 2, her rep confirms to Us Weekly.
"I can confirm she gave birth to a baby girl on July 2 who weighed 8.5 pounds," the rep says. "Everyone is healthy and happy."
Philipps herself broke the happy news on Twitter on July 3. "So this happened..." she captioned a blurry but gorgeous black-and-white picture of herself holding the newborn. (Perhaps not coincidentally, the 33-year-old Cougar Town actress used the same words -- along with a photo of a positive pregnancy test stick -- to announce in December that she was pregnant.)
This is the star's second child; she and Silverstein, who wed in 2007, are already parents to daughter Birdie, almost 5.
Philipps revealed baby number two's gender in April, announcing that she and her screenwriter hubby were expecting their second daughter. Despite expecting another baby girl, the former Dawson's Creek star told Us her second pregnancy was nothing like her first. "I thought this pregnancy would be like the first one and be easy, but it's been completely different. I'm even losing my voice because I have acid reflux!" she said. "It's so gross. Your body is just highjacked. It's gross."
When Philipps gave birth to daughter Birdie in 2008, she didn't use any painkillers. "I had a baby with no pain medicine, mainly because most people I talked to didn't think I'd be able to do it," she told Us. "So there!"
To prepare for the birth of her second daughter, Philipps focused more of her attention on helping daughter Birdie adjust to becoming a big sister.
"She talks to the baby and she's just really thrilled," Michelle Williams' BFF told Us. "I told her though that it's okay to feel two ways about it. It's okay to feel really excited and also nervous or mad or scared. I don't want her to think she has to be super happy about it all the time because I know it's going to be . . . a big adjustment for her."
"We'll see what happens when the actual baby comes," Philipps joked. "I'm planning for that moment when she asks, 'When does she go back?'"
