Carrie Underwood will be catching a wave on the big screen.

Starring alongside the likes of Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, and AnnaSophia Robb, Carrie will be hitting the ocean blue in 'Soul Surfer,' according to Variety. The film is based off of the autobiography of the headline-making Bethany Hamilton.

Bethany lost her arm in a shark attack at age 13. Defying the odds, she pursued her passion for surfing and went on to compete and win professional surfing competitions.

According to Variety, Bethany will be played by AnnaSophia, with Helen and Dennis cast as her parents. Carrie will portray a youth leader at a church. The movie also stars Lorraine Nicholson and Kevin Sorbo. Filming commenced this week in Hawaii.
