Christina Hendricks is not afraid of her curves. On the contrary, as Joan on the Emmy-winning series "Mad Men," she pairs her trademark huggy wool skirt-suits with enough thunderous sashays to drop the jaws of just about every Sterling Cooper office boy on the daily. In the new issue of SELF (on stands today), Hendricks reveals the personal tastes that allow her to maintain such enviable curves; plus, an unlikely inspiration for that fiery red hair and the lucky dude who put a ring on her finger. Check out some highlights below, and then see the rest of the interview at SELF.com
Curse that Cookie Diet! Bring on the cookies:
"Women often tell me that watching me on TV makes them feel better about their curves, and that makes me feel fantastic. I'm not a size 2, and the wonderful responses I get have helped me be confident about my body, whatever shape it's in."
On getting cheap thrills ... from the local farmer's market:
"Seasonal fruit and vegetables thrill me. I eat them like crazy!"
On what she finds sensual -- and she seems like a trustworthy source:
"Cooking with spices that fill your home with their aroma is so warm. And sensual."
Her unlikely inspiration for a self-imposed case of Gingervitis:
"I've always loved redheads. I was a huge Ginger fan. And I decided to dye my hair red because of Anne of Green Gables."
On her man love, fiance Geoffrey Arend:
"I remember smiling so hard on our first date that my cheeks hurt."
