Sean "Diddy" Combs has become the latest star to fall victim to the celebrity "swatting" craze after a hoax caller reported that a man had been shot inside the hip-hop mogul's Los Angeles home.
More than a dozen cop cars and two police helicopters were dispatched to the scene Wednesday as they responded to the emergency call.
Authorities also secured comedian Steve Carell's property next door, but they soon discovered that the call had been a joke, reports TMZ.

It is not yet known if Combs was home at the time of the incident, but he isn't the first resident on the block to be targeted by pranksters. Miley Cyrus' parents, Billy Ray and Tish, experienced a similar hoax at their house last year, while Paris Hilton, Tom Cruise, Justin Bieber and Clint Eastwood have also become victims in recent months. False 911 calls can be penalized by fines and jail time.
In February, a 12-year-old boy was charged in connection with a false emergency call that sparked a police raid on Ashton Kutcher's Los Angeles pad in October and subsequently admitted to wasting authorities' time.
