When the second season of The Vampire Diaries ended last spring, Stefan (Paul Wesley) made a deadly deal with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to save his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) from dying.
At Klaus' command, Stefan was forced to leave Mystic Falls and go on a massive killing spree, leaving both Damon and Elena (Nina Dobrev) behind.
"I need you stop following me. You're causing some problems," Stefan warns. "I don't need any saving. I just want you to let me go."
The Vampire Diaries premieres Thursday at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
