"I just what to say thank you for letting me live a dream I've always had," a teary Shepherd, 44, told cohost Brooke Burke Charvet amid audience boos after her ouster. "I have the most amazing partner in Val Chmerkovskiy and I had the most amazing time. I want to say to every person out there: The thing that scares you the most, run towards it, because it's so amazing on the other side."

Though she wasn't the week's lowest scorer -- that honor went to Gladys Knight -- Shepherd was taken to task by DWTS judges for her lackluster tango.

RECAP: What you missed on Monday's show

"It was good, but what was lacking was your usual exuberance," judge Carrie Ann Inaba said Monday. "Your face was expressionless. I felt like there wasn't any sparkle."

Disney's Roshon Fegan, 20 -- one of Monday's high scorers -- also faced elimination, a fact that the judges had trouble accepting.

"All of us judges are in total shock. After 14 seasons, we figure anything can happen, but this is beyond," Len Goodman said after Fegan and Shepherd were named as the bottom two contestants. "This season, the standard is so high -- anyone can be in jeopardy, anyone can be safe."

Fegan will get another chance to impress America next Monday alongside Gavin DeGraw, Maria Menounos, Jaleel White, Gladys Knight, Donald Driver and William Levy. Melissa Gilbert -- who suffered a concussion and whiplash performing her paso doble -- also made it through to next week, and has been medically cleared to return, despite a brief trip to the hospital Monday.
