Goodbye, Grandpa Joe.
Irish actor David Kelly, who played Grandpa Joe in 2005's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, has died at age 82.
RTE (via E! News) reports that the actor passed away in his native Dublin after a short, undisclosed illness. Kelly (he acted opposite Johnny Depp, who played Willy Wonka in Tim Burton's reimagining of Roald Dahl's classic book) scored a Screen Actors' Guild nomination as a nude motorcyclist in 1998's Waking Ned Devine.
A veteran of theater, radio, TV and film for 50 years, Kelly was beloved by British audiences for his role as O'Reilly the Builder opposite John Cleese in hit show Faulty Towers.
In Hollywood, he starred in such films as 1992's Into the West, 2004's Laws of Attraction and 2007's Stardust.
He's survived by wife, actress Laurie Morton, and two children.
