"I'm famous? I'm a celebrity? I didn't even realize. … My name's Derek. I don't know what you guys are talking about."

That's Justin Bieber, feigning non-famous status while being hounded by a TMZ cameraman in a video posted on the website on Wednesday. And it was apparently all the fuel his ravenous fan-base needed to get their teen idol back in trending position on Twitter.

According to the Washington Post, the seemingly harmless words "Justin Bieber" were, for a while, causing Twitter's trending algorithm to produce too many newsless, Bieber-related results.

So, Twitter adjusted the algorithm, "changing the focus from the most discussed items to what is 'most breaking' and 'immediately popular,'" as explained last year.

Enter Derek Bieber: today's hot, new Twitter trending topic.

Sorry. Even a gaggle of uber-talented social media engineers can't topple the digital reign of the Biebs.
