In the song "Hype" Drake raps "They want to be on TV right next to me/ You cannot be right here next to me/ Don't you see RiRi right next to me?" Aww!!!
The "Are they or aren't they perfect for each other?" debate has been going on for years and we think they make the cutest pair, even if it does seem Rih prefers a good old bad boy. We don't blame her. A strong woman needs a strong man. But who says a strong man can't be romantic all the time?
When it comes to dating, RiRi loves to keep her options open. But it seems Drake would always be down to shack up with Ri if she came calling.
So, here are nine reasons Drake will always be Rihanna's fallback:
1. Mom always said the man should love you more than you love him.
While Drake is now a global sensation, there's a part of him that will always be little dorky Wheelchair Jimmy from "Degrassi." Though Rihanna had her slightly corny "Pon de Replay" period, she's consistently been a bombshell since she reinvented herself for "Umbrella." Drake has no problem talking about Rihanna in his music, but she keeps her lines vague.
2. He never badmouths her, even after she hurt his feelings.
Drake spoke to Elle in 2011 about the two going out a few times. Drake clearly wanted things to continue. Rihanna? Not so much. "At the time it hurt, but she didn't mean to," he told the glossy. "I'll never put that on her. I was hurt because I started to slowly realize what it was. I guess I thought it was more…that was the first girl with any fame that paid me any mind. You spend days reading about this person in the magazines. All of a sudden you have this number-one song and you're at some birthday party and there she is. And you're just some naïve kid from Toronto staying in some s----y-ass hotel who got invited to this party on a whim."
3. He's got an entourage that's got his back.
Bottles were thrown and the situation got bloody in New York back in 2012 when Drake's crew got into a brawl with Chris Brown's camp over Rihanna. Apparently, Chris sent a bottle of champagne to Drake's table, which Drake returned with a note saying "I'm still f------ Rihanna." The NY Daily News reported that Chris "took a bottle and a punch to his face from Drake." Other outlets say someone in Drake's entourage got physical with Chris, which we believe a bit more.
4. They look so good in pictures together.
Seriously, they are always so adorable!
5. Every time they link up on a song, it's a hit.
"Every time we link up it's a celebration," Drake raps on "Moment 4 Life." OK, so this duet was with Nicki Minaj, but we like to think he was spitting this about Rih. The list of their hit collaborations speaks for itself: "What's My Name"; "Take Care"; and "Work."
5. They love to party together.
Rih and Drake are constantly seen hitting clubs together all over the world, from London to Toronto and New York. Clearly they're buddies who have a blast together. Besties make the best boyfriends!
6. If she's ever feeling not so fabulous, you know he'll come with all kinds of sweet lines, flowers, champagne and he'll offer to cuddle.
There's a reason why there is a Drake tears game app called "Drizzy Tearz" where you wipe away his water works -- the man can be a huge softy. Some of his classic sensitive lines are: "I'm scared that every girl I care for will find a better man and end up happier in the long run" from "Missing You(Remix)"; "You just changed your hair and it looks perfect/ Wish I was the first to let you know" from "Sooner Than Later"; "I never had you, although I would be glad to/ I'd probably go and tattoo your name on my heart" from "Houtatlantavegas"; "Just throw up while I hold your hurt back" from "Marvin's Room." We could go on and on...
7. He is always looking at her longingly.
We'd probably look at Rih like that too if we got to be this close to her for an extended period of time. But Drake is too cute with these kinds of gazes. Rih, he would love you so hard, girl! Like, for life!
9. And this! She looks like she genuinely adores him here!
