The Hollywood Reporter -- LONDON - Ewan McGregor, the Jack the Giant Slayer star, took to Twitter to criticize the BBC and defend fellow Scottish actor James McAvoy.
Hardtalk, the BBC's world news magazine show, had used McAvoy as an example of a celebrity who was cast in a West End theater show to attract audiences.

McGregor used the social-media site to defend McAvoy, who is currently appearing in Macbeth on the London stage.
"Hardtalk moaning about celebs in theater," McGregor tweeted. "Using James McAvoy as an eg. Ridiculous. Don't they know he's a brilliant actor. Come on BBC."
The BBC show was discussing the use of talent from on screen on the stage as a way of bolstering box-office revenues and garnering fuller houses.
