Fall Out Boy teases Courtney Love, Elton John collaborations on new album
Billboard -- Fall Out Boy announced on Thursday that Courtney Love, Kurt Cobain's wife and the vocalist for Hole, will be featured on their upcoming "Save Rock And Roll" album, due April 16.
The news came after bassist Pete Wentz teased the band's collaboration with a "blonde hair singer" who had been nominated for a Golden Globe on Twitter. After shooting down suggestions like Miley Cyrus, Pink, Taylor Swift, Madonna and Sia, Fall Out Boy tweeted a YouTube video announcing "It's Courtney, b**ch" with a song snippet.
Wentz also confirmed via Twitter that Fall Out Boy's new album would feature some sort of collaboration with Elton John, a rumor which was sparked after vocalist Patrick Stump tweeted a photo of himself and John in the band's studio last week with the hashtag "#SaveRockAndRoll."
In the past, Fall Out Boy has collaborated with Lil Wayne, Panic! at the Disco, Jay-Z, Elvis Costello and more. During the band's three-year break after 2008's "Folie a Deux" was released, Wentz formed dance duo Black Cards and Stump released a solo album, while guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley joined various rock and metal bands, including The Damned Things with Anthrax's Scott Ian.
When Fall Out Boy returned from hiatus in February, the group announced the upcoming album and also debuted their first new song in four years, "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'Em Up)." The video for the track starred 2 Chainz, and Fall Out Boy has since been teasing a remix version featuring the rapper.
The same weekend they performed with 2 Chainz at the NBA All-Star weekend, the four musicians sat down with Billboard to talk about what kind of collaborations would be on their fifth studio album. The contracts weren't all set in stone at the time, but Wentz did tease that, "If people are excited about the 2 Chainz idea, there's more exciting stuff."
Added Trohman, "More left field stuff. But to me it doesn't feel left field. We all like different stuff."
The band has a few more international dates this month before the sold-out "Save Rock and Roll" U.S. tour kicks off May 14 in Milwaukee, with dates through the end of June. The international leg starts up at the end of July.
