Chloe Moretz is having a bloody good time as the titular character in Carrie.
"Filming Carrie has been a lot of fun!" the 15-year-old actress and Aeropostale spokeswoman told Us Weekly on July 2. A remake of the 1976 horror classic starring Sissy Spacek, 62, the new film -- set for a March 2013 release -- also features Julianne Moore, 51, as Moretz's religious and abusive mother.
"This woman has clearly had a psychotic break, perhaps several," Moore says of her character in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly. "But what's sad about it for me is that she's clearly sick and here's this poor child in the thrall of this person who is seriously ill. And on top of that, they have this mother-daughter relationship. So we want to make that relationship as meaningful as possible, even though it is horrible and destructive."
Moretz shared two film stills via Instagram August 23, including one that recreates the infamous bloody prom dress scene, in which tormented telkintetc teen Carrie is doused with a bucket of pig blood. "We only have, like, four chances to get it right," Moretz tells Entertainment Weekly. "Because that stuff stains your hair."
Earlier this year, Kick-Ass actress Moretz said her version of Carrie will be more true to the Stephen King novel than the original Brian de Palma film. "We're breaking the book down and we're putting a lot of elements of the book into our story, so it's more of like a Black Swan version of it," the starlet explained to MTV. "So you really see the mythology of the character and you really see everything going on with Carrie. It's darker."
