Cory and Topanga are having a daughter AND a son. In addition to casting Rowan Blanchard as Riley Matthews in the title role in the upcoming Boy Meets World spinoff Girl Meets World, the Disney show has also decided to give her a brother.
Entertainment Weekly revealed Thursday, Jan. 31 that Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) will also be parents to a son, Elliott Matthews, 13. The character has yet to be cast, but will is described as a "thinking man's jock," Entertainment Weekly reports. The character will resemble Cory's older brother Eric Matthews (Will Friedle).
In addition, EW reports that Girl Meets World has cast Sabrina Carpenter, 13, to play Riley's best friend Maya Fox -- likened to Cory's pal Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong).
Speaking of Friedle and Strong, the former Boy Meets World stars may also be reprising their roles in the spinoff.
Girl Meets World executive producer Michael Jacobs told The Hollywood Reporter, "Whoever wants to be part of this show will be and whoever wants to move on will."
"Will Friedle said, 'I will be at every taping.' Everybody is quite attached to it," he explained. "The bottom line is: Will Rider or Will be a cast member? Will they put in appearances? Maybe, maybe not. We'll see."
Tell Us: Do you hope Rider Strong will reprise his role as Shawn Hunter?
