Glee, Modern Family Win Big at GLAAD Media Awards
Glee fans and Modern Family enthusiasts alike both have something to celebrate!
The GLAAD Media Awards honored both shows Sunday night, awarding its outstanding comedy prize to both series.
Glee's Chris Colfer (who plays Kurt, a gay teen who switches schools to escape bullying) and Mike O'Malley (who plays Kurt's open-minded father) accepted on behalf of the musical series. "If I could ever have a sex talk from anyone, it would be this man right here," Colfer, 20, joked about his on-screen dad. "GLAAD has made Glee so happy."
Jesse Tyler Ferguson (who plays Mitchell, half of Modern Family's gay couple), Julie Bowen and Ariel Winter accepted the award on behalf of the series. "I've always kind of dreamed of holding a Tony Award," Ferguson, 35, quipped. "But this is just as cool, and just as gay. It was an honor last year to be nominated, and it's an honor this year just to tie [with Glee!]"
Other winners included Project Runway for outstanding reality program and I Love You Phillip Morris, starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor as a gay couple, as the winner for outstanding film-- limited release.
