With their Paris wedding extravaganza just a few weeks away, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were rumored to be getting hitched in a hush-hush ceremony over the weekend in Los Angeles, a legal end-run around France's pesky residency requirement for brides and grooms. But are they now officially Mr. and Mrs. West?
Depends whom you ask.
"Kim and Kanye are now married on paper," a source tells Life & Style. "They got their license."
TMZ reported last week that Kimye would go against every Kardashian PR instinct by pledging their troth "privately and without fanfare" ahead of their official nuptials in France, where foreign citizens must reside in the country for a minimum of 40 days prior to the wedding.
But the far more reliable People mag says the twice-divorced Kardashian, 33, and the never-married West, 36, have yet to say "I do."
The pair, with 11-month-old daughter North in tow, are expected to swap vows before family, friends and the whirring E! cameras during a lavish May 24 ceremony at the palatial Chateau Louis XIV.
They are also committed to attending the annual Met Gala ball in New York on Monday night, the same event that earned Kim worst-dressed honors last year with her floral Mrs. Doubtfire-esque maternity dress.
