Did Cupid overindulge in wine coolers and randomly fire off a couple of arrows? In a head-scratching report, Page Six claims Courtney Love has been seeing award-winning, tangelo-hued TV and film writer Aaron Sorkin for "a few months" while she's been based at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.
"He is intrigued by Courtney's wit, while she says Aaron is a great influence on her," explains a source. "Some people might think they are an odd couple, but she likens them to Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller."
Ah, no. Nice try on pushing that comparison, though, unnamed insider.
Still, it's not as if Love, 49, and Sorkin, 52, don't have common ground. In addition to a mutual talent for writing rapid-fire dialogue (her on the Internet; him on everything from "The West Wing" to "The Newsroom" to "The Social Network"), they both have daughters, are Democrats and have battled addiction problems.
Sorkin's rep, however, assures Page Six that they're not dating.
Love recently philosophized about romance on Facebook, musing, "I think at nearly 50 the basis of any relationship should be restraint and pragmatism before the big dramatic tsunami -- s--- i wish i knew this at 20 -- and to become best friends and to make sure your exes don't all hate you. It's important to leave romances nicely."
Over the years, the Widow Cobain has been linked to the likes of hotelier Andre Balasz, Edward Norton and Billy Corgan. Last summer, she informed LA Weekly that she had a "billionaire boyfriend," but declined to name him.
Sorkin, meanwhile, has dated Kristin Chenoweth and Kristin Davis since his marriage to Julia Bingham ended in 2005.
