Ever since Scarlett Johansson's romance with French journalist Romain Dauriac was revealed last November, the pair have stayed decidedly low-key.

But on Monday, they stepped out for a daytime stroll in New York, and the casually dressed actress immediately had attention (and cameras) focused on a sparkly bauble on her ring finger.

Photos of the "giant, pear-cut diamond ring" (per the London Daily Mail) set off talk that the former Mrs. Ryan Reynolds planned to take another walk down the aisle.

But it appears Scarlett's decision to accessorize her puffy coat and winter boots by slipping a sizable rock onto her all-important digit was merely an aesthetic one. Her rep insists she's not engaged.

"I never think about marriage. Is that weird?" ScarJo shrugged to the February issue of Elle UK. "It's really not important to me."

What is important to her, beyond her current role as Maggie in the latest Broadway production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," is body art.

Scarlett reportedly met Dauriac through their mutual acquaintance with tattoo artist Fuzi Uvtpk, who late last year inked a massive horseshoe and the words "Lucky You" on her ribcage. Not surprisingly, the couple's perambulations around Manhattan included a stop at a tattoo parlor.

Johansson, 28, began dating Dauriac, 30, not long after she called it quits with advertising exec Nate Naylor after about a year of togetherness. She parted ways with Reynolds in December 2010 after two years of marriage, eventually segueing into head-scratching rebound relationship with Sean Penn.
