If loose-lipped insiders are to be believed, Katy Perry and John Mayer will have plenty to celebrate this holiday season. Seems those long-simmering engagement rumors that heated up last month are now boiling over.
"It's inevitable," a source declares to E! News, seemingly without sighing.
"Everyone wants them to get engaged," says the spy. "They are so perfect together."
Not to put any pressure on them or anything.
According to Us Weekly, Mayer is currently shopping for rings and has already secured the blessing of his mom.
"She approves of Katy," says an insider, "and he wants to do it soon because his dad is 86."
Katy, 29, and John, 36, have been dogged by engagement talk since he slipped a heart-shaped ring on her finger over Valentine's Day.
Fueling this latest round of speculation is her recent chattiness about the relationship, from their letter-filled courtship to her declaration that he's a "genius" with a "beautiful mind" and "tortured soul."
"I actually am dating my crush," she gushed in the November issue of W. "I had a crush on him for a long time, and it just so happens we fit together great."
Mayer, whose exes include Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift, has never been hitched, although he's talked wistfully of tying the knot for years. Fingers crossed that he doesn't try to outdo Kanye West's Jumbotron-inclusive gesture.
