Geez, if "Smash" had as much drama on-screen as it seems to have when cameras aren't rolling, maybe it wouldn't have been canceled. TMZ has photos of Katharine McPhee locking lips with the musical drama's former director, Michael Morris, and reports the two are dating. That wouldn't be a big deal, except both are apparently still married to other people.
McPhee, 29, tied the knot with producer Nick Cokas, 47, in 2008, calling him the "love of my life." But insiders tell TMZ that the couple has been separated for six months and are living apart.
Morris, meanwhile, is married to actress Mary McCormack, who's best known for playing U.S. marshal Mary Shannon on "In Plain Sight" and Howard Stern's missus in "Private Parts." The two wed in 2003 and have three daughters together: Lillian, 2, Rose, 6, and Margaret, 9.
Their marital status remains unknown, although as TMZ points out, Morris wasn't exactly trying to keep a low profile as he swapped spit with McPhee in the middle of the day on a Los Angeles street last weekend. The two held hands, nuzzled and gazed adoringly at one another.
The photos may cap off a rough few weeks for McCormack, whose new NBC show, "Welcome to the Family," was just canceled.
"Smash" seemed to be a hotbed for off-screen romance. Debra Messing began a relationship with co-star Will Chase after splitting from her husband, Daniel Zelman, after more than a decade of marriage.
