Six years ago, John Mayer mused wistfully about how much he wanted a wife, and how he thinks about his future bride "all the time." Now, insiders are (once again) hinting that he's hoping to make Katy Perry his very first missus.
A source tells E! News that the on-off flames are "very serious," and their inner circle wouldn't be surprised by an engagement announcement sometime soon.
"Everyone knows it's just a question of when John will propose," a spy tattles to Us Weekly.
Adding fuel to the question-popping rumblings: The former Mrs. Russell Brand, 28, accompanied Mayer, 36, to his brother's wedding on Sunday at a New York yacht club, where she apparently made a good impression with her grace and generosity.
In addition to keeping to the background to ensure the spotlight stayed on the bride and groom, Katy reportedly danced with John's father and treated guests to bottles of Cristal.
On Wednesday, Perry publicly declared her affections with a birthday tweet to Mayer, who is currently on tour in Europe: "Happy birthday cutie!!"
According to Us, the pair make sure to stay in touch despite their career demands.
"They Skype and text all day," says a source. "John always checks in before bed!"
