Voices of reason appear to be at a premium in Rihanna's world. Take her once- (and perhaps future) estranged dad, Ronald Fenty, who's flapping his gums about Chris Brown in the pages of Heat magazine (via the New York Post).

"Chris is a nice guy, and everybody's entitled to make mistakes in their life," he says of the man who brutally beat his daughter in 2009. "God knows how many I've made."

Actually, you don't need to be a deity to spot his latest error, specifically, implying that his gorgeous, world-famous offspring recently carried some extra poundage.

"I actually thought she was a little fat the last time I saw her," criticizes RiRi's dad, referring to her visit to their native Barbados last summer. "When I saw her at this year's Grammys, I thought she was back to her normal size. I used to joke with her, 'Robyn, you're getting too fat.' But I think she's fine. I think she looked excellent, as everyone saw, at the Grammys. She's dieting, she's working out.''

Last year, Rihanna talked candidly to Rolling Stone about her relationship with her father and his history of domestic violence.

"I actually feel really bad for my father. He was abused, too," she said. "He got beat up by his stepdad when he was young. He has resentment toward women, because he felt like his mom never protected him, and unfortunately, my mother was the victim of that. But, I'm not giving him excuses. Right is right and wrong is wrong. I still blame him. But I understand the source."

That might explain Rihanna's renewed relationship with Brown, which includes a rumored hookup and two recent remixes.

Her dad's opinion on the musical collaborations: "She's her own woman now.''
