In age-obsessed Hollywood, turning 30 isn't usually something to celebrate, but Kate Hudson happily made the most of her milestone on Friday night (two days before her actual birthday) with a rollicking party packed with dozens of her closest celebrity pals -- and a cop or two.
People magazine reports the shindig, which was tossed at the Pacific Palisades, Calif., home of Kate's mom Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, attracted the likes of Justin Timberlake (more on him in a sec), Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher (who, not surprisingly, Twittered about the "surprise b-day party" he was attending), Gwen Stefani, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Alba, Adam Sandler, Eva Mendes, Tobey Maguire and Cher, because a birthday just isn't a birthday unless an ageless pop culture icon offers congratulations.
One big name was a no-show, however: Hudson's sometime squeeze Owen Wilson, with whom she's once again rumored to be on the outs.
But if the bubbly actress was bothered by Owen's absence, she certainly didn't show it.
"Kate was elated, dancing all night, having the time of her life -- and she looked amazing in a very sexy little dress and [Christian] Louboutin heels," an onlooker tells the mag. "She gave a very touching speech and spoke about how important her family is to her."
Timberlake, meanwhile, was important to the night's success. "[He] was the life of the party," says the insider. "He was dancing, drinking tequila, and he had everyone doing the 'electric slide' on the dance floor."
The crooner, who was without girlfriend Jessica Biel (despite split rumors, they're doing fine, says Us Weekly), also hoofed it up with the birthday girl, with whom he's been chummy for the last couple of years (both have repeatedly denied romance whispers).
According to LaineyGossip.com, Kate repeatedly sidled up to Timberlake as he danced and -- oh, let's just let Lainey tell it -- "she had one [hand] inside his pants pocket and the other holding back her own hair exposing her neck and he nipped it at one point."
Not everyone was enjoying the revelry, however. Turns out the soiree was so boisterous that the neighbors reportedly called the cops.
Kate wasn't the only one who got a birthday visit from the boys in blue. TMZ.com says Suri Cruise welcomed in the big 0-3 on Saturday with well-wishes from a helicopter full of paparazzi, prompting parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes to request backup.
The Cruises reportedly called the Beverly Hills, Calif., police department to complain about the shutterbugs hovering about their celebration. The cops did a fly-by, but the paps had already moved on.
This was apparently the second party for Suri, who also blew out the candles on Thursday during what People magazine describes as "a small gathering of friends and family."
As you'd expect for a button-cute tot who has cornered the market on froufrou party dresses, the festivities had a princess theme, complete with a cake topped with Belle from "Beauty and the Beast."
