Keira Knightley's commercial for the perfume Coco Mademoiselle has been deemed too sexually charged to be broadcast during or near children's shows. And what exactly does she do in the ad to elicit such a response? In the commercial, Knightley, 27, zips around on a motorcycle in a tan, long-sleeved suede jumpsuit on her way to a photo shoot, where she makes eyes at the photographer and coyly unzips her jacket.
The complaint was made to the Advertising Standards Authority after the commercial appeared during the showing of the cartoon Ice Age 2. Chanel argued that there was no nudity in the ad, and that "while there was a sexual frisson, it was more akin to flirtation…." The ASA fired back: "We noted that the photographer was directly involved in unzipping the actress's garments and there was a suggestion that she was naked aside from a bed sheet. We also noted there was clear sexual tension between the pair…. We therefore concluded that the ad was inappropriately scheduled…."
