It wasn't always fun and games for Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett. The realty star was in a very dark place in her teens, and she revealed that she attempted suicide multiple times and was institutionalized.

The shocking revelation came as she spoke her therapist, Dr. Monica Shahbaznia, during People magazine's sneak peek of this week's "Kendra on Top."

"The last couple days I've tried to pick apart my feelings a lot. When I was a teenager, I battled some severe depression," she said. "I attempted suicide a couple times. I went to a mental institution. I battled some severe depression, drugs, overdosing, slitting wrists, all that stuff."

An emotional Kendra fights back tears as the therapist tells her that primary caregivers or parents are meant to provide "safety and protection" and "those people have a lot to do with how we bond with somebody else."

Hank Baskett's wife says she's was largely left to fend for herself during her formative years.

"I was left on my own," she says. "I was a young f------ girl. All I wanted was for my mom to say, 'I love you, and I'm here for you.' I never got that."

Things have been rocky between Kendra and he mother, Patti, for years. On a recent episode of her reality show, Kendra told her aunt, "I feel like I'm being raped every minute with my mom."
