Lance Armstrong Ignores Daughter After 7th Place Triathlon Finish
Is dad a sore loser?
Lance Armstrong tried going for the gold at the Ironman triathlon, which took place in Texas Sunday. But when he finished in seventh place, he didn't want to be consoled by anyone -- not even his 10-year-old daughter.
In a video documenting the athlete’s finish, the 7-time Tour de France champion is shown ignoring his daughter at the finish line (either Isabelle or Grace, who are identical twins), who was holding out a medal while trying to get his attention and cheer him up by yelling, "Dad!, Dad!"
After completing the 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run in 3 hours, 54 minutes and 32 seconds, the pro athlete was understandably exhausted and disappointed in his performance.
"It's a very hard race, and I'll just have to get better if I want to win," the 40-year-old told reporters, post-race.
Armstrong, who is best known for his incredible, unmatched consecutive Tour de France wins between the years of 1999 through 2005 confirmed that he was retiring from competitive cycling in February 2011.
