Troubled comedian Artie Lange was hospitalized on Saturday after stabbing himself nine times, according to new reports.
Lange, who is a regular on shock jock Howard Stern's radio show, was checked into an unnamed medical facility over the weekend, but his spokesperson refused to reveal the reason for his admittance.
According to the New York Post, Lange's mother made an emergency phone call on Saturday morning after finding him wounded at his Hoboken, N.J. apartment.
Lange sustained six "hesitation wounds" and three deep plunges, according to a law enforcement source.
Surgeons reportedly managed to save Lange despite heavy bleeding.
A representative for Lange told TMZ.com on Saturday: "I can confirm that Artie is in the hospital. Artie has chosen to keep all information on this matter between him and his doctor. There will be no further comment."
The funnyman had his driver's license revoked for seven months in September after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs. He told police he had a prescribed sleeping pill in his system when he was pulled over, and was ordered to serve 12 hours in an intoxicated driver resource program.
