Breaking up is hard to do.
But what's harder?
"When you dont know youre breaking up!" Lindsay Lohan says on Thursday's Ellen DeGeneres Show. "Really weird."
Asked if she knew she and Samantha Ronson were splitting after a tumultuous fight April 4, Lohan said, "I had no idea what was going on. I just hadn't seen her in, like, a week. She, like, disappeared."
She denied reports that she cheated on Ronson, claiming that that is not her style. "I watched my father do that to my mother my entire life," she said.
As for that restraining order the Ronson family inquired about?
"I have no idea!" Lohan said, laughing. "What am I going to do? I was like, I don't understand. It came out of nowhere. I've supported Charlotte [Samantha's sister], and I've never done anything for people to assume I'm dangerous."
The plus side of being single: She can focus more on her career.
"I feel like I want to get my career back in shape," said the actress, who has some producing projects in the works and is doing a movie in October. "When people are together so much it gets really difficult, and you forget who you are because you're more concerned about being with the other person. I think it's been really good for me. I thought it would be so much harder, and it hasn't been. My sisters been here with me."
Asked "what" she thought would be harder," Lohan replied, "Just this whole situation. I've had great people surrounding me, and I've just been working every single day."
She says she will stay on her own for the time being.
"I'm not looking to be with anyone right now," Lohan adds. "I don't need to deal with that. It gets too distracting from everything that I need to focus on. Leaving town, you miss someone too much and you don't want to go sometimes, but I really care about Samantha and we'll see what happens. Maybe when we're fully in the right place... I love her."
