The Hollywood Reporter -- Brady Corbet is taking his career to the next level.
The 24-year-old actor, who broke in with a role in Thirteen and has featured in indie hits Martha Marcy May Marlene and Melanocholia, will direct his first feature film, he tells The Hollywood Reporter. The movie, a period piece set in France, is based on his own script.
Corbet features in this month's neo-noir sexual thriller Simon Killer, which he co-wrote with frequent collaborator Antonio Campos. He also has a co-writer credit on the upcoming thriller The Sleepwalker, which he penned with director Mona Fastvold. His short, Protect You+ Me, won an honorable mention at Sundance in 2009.
Producing the film alongside Corbet are the veteran French producer Antoine de Clermont-Tonnerre and Chris Coen (Funny Games, Wristcutters: A Love Story), the latter of whom financed Corbet's short. The film is in the casting stage, with several roles still to be filled.
