Melissa McCarthy Hosting Saturday Night Live for Second Time in Two Years
Mark your calendars! Oscar-nominated actress Melissa McCarthy is set to return to NBC's Studio 8H in April to host Saturday Night Live for the second time, sources tell Us Weekly.
The Identity Thief star, 42 -- still on a high from her latest comedy's $100 million take at the box office -- has been tapped for the legendary late-night show's April 6 episode. It will be her second stint as host in two years.
McCarthy -- who started her career doing sketch comedy with the Groundlings, an improv troupe based in L.A. -- earned rave reviews for her first go-around on SNL in October 2011. Critics praised the Emmy winner for having fun and fearlessly committing to every sketch.
Among the highlights from her last hosting gig? A reunion with her Bridesmaids co-star Kristen Wiig in the "Lawrence Welk Show" cold opening, a skit about an inappropriate office worker (McCarthy) who sexually harasses her co-worker (Jason Sudeikis), and a hilarious bit featuring the comedienne as an obsessive Hidden Valley Ranch fan.
