Michael Buble Gives Impromptu Performance to Shocked NYC Subway Riders
New Yorkers are a notoriously jaded bunch, but even they were visibly excited and smitten when Canadian crooner Michael Buble gave an impromptu performance on the subway platform at the Lincoln Center station on Apr. 25. Backed by the a capella group Naturally 7, Buble sang the soulful "Who's Lovin' You."
Bystanders held up their cameras and cell phones as the singer, stylishly clad in a slim black suit and skinny tie, belted the Jackson 5 classic. The crowd, made up of mostly women, were obviously charmed by the performance. As was Buble himself! After the song, he revealed that, out of all the events he was doing to promote his new album To Be Loved, released this week, singing on the train platform was the one he was most excited about. "This was a dream come true for me. Once you've sung in the subway waiting for the No. 1 train, you know you've made it," he said.
Last year, Rick Springfield pulled a similar stunt when he surprised commuters at NYC's Penn Station with a performance of "Jessie's Girl."
Subway riders aren't the only recipients of Buble's vocal talents as of late. He's been also singing to wife Luisana Lopilato's baby bump! "I was doing it early on -- really early on -- and I didn't know because I've never had a baby before," Buble , 37, said on The Graham Norton Show on Apr. 18. "In the middle of singing, my wife starts laughing and says, 'The baby is two months and has no ears to hear you!'"
