The next best thing to Mickey Rourke winning an Oscar is probably adopting a new puppy and naming it Oscar, which is just what Mickey might be up to.
Radar Online reports today that the Academy Awards nominee, who last week said goodbye to his beloved pooch of 18 years, Loki, plans to welcome a new Chihuahua home soon - and he's naming the furball "Oscar." Awwwoof!
"Mickey has other dogs but he misses Loki terribly," says a friend of the star. "He doesn't want to wait long, either - he wants to get his new pooch this week. The new dog won't replace Loki, but by naming it Oscar, Mickey says he'll make his comeback year even more special." This sounds like a therapist-approved move, Mick.
While it's certainly ironic to name a new pup after the awards show that snubbed you, it's also a sign of Rourke's good nature. In fact, "The Wrestler" actor seems to have nothing but kind words for the Best Actor winner Sean Penn. The co-nominees were seen hugging it out at the Vanity Fair post-awards party.
But you know what they say, a dog will always be Mickey's best friend.
