Nat Wolff Calls His Upcoming Film With Selena Gomez, Behaving Badly, "Ferris Bueller On Drugs"
Nat Wolff wasn't exactly acting when he took on his new role as a teen looking to apply for college in upcoming Focus Features comedy Admission. Best known for The Naked Brothers Band series with his brother Alex, Wolff, 18, was also a full-time student when he was shooting the film opposite costars Tina Fey and Paul Rudd, so the pressures of applications were very, very real.
In Admission, Wolff plays Jeremiah, a Princeton hopeful who gets a leg up on the competition when the university's admissions officer (played by Fey) believes he may be the son that she gave up in a secret adoption years ago. Rudd stars as Jeremiah's high school principal in the film based Jean Hanff Korelitz's book of the same name.
"It was actually making me kind of anxious," Wolff tells Us Weekly about first reading the script, adapted by Paul Weitz (director of In Good Company and Little Fockers).
During a Get Schooled visit to Validus Prep, he admitted to skipping classes to talk to the students about pursuing higher education. "Typically I'd be heading to my Current Politics now, so I'm not just coasting!" he assured Us.
For a silver screen newcomer, Wolff has made some sound career choices. In addition to Admission, he has three other movies coming out this year -- The Last Keepers, Behaving Badly and Palo Alto.
One in particular -- Behaving Badly -- even co-stars singer and Spring Breakers actress Selena Gomez. Unfortunately for those under 17 years of age, however, this film is rated R.
"Some of her fans might not be able to see it, but she's super talented," Wolff said of working with Gomez, 20. "It's my first real movie in every scene, with her, and I really enjoyed it."
As far as what the cast was calling the film on set, "everyone was calling it Ferris Bueller on drugs," he tells Us. "It takes a Matthew Broderick-like character and just goes to the next level."
