Is Nicki Minaj ready to be Mrs. DJ Khaled? Not exactly. Speaking with Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex July 29, the "Starships" rapper, 30, finally piped up about Khaled's emotional, out-of-nowhere video proposal from July 25, in which he (earnestly?) asked for Minaj's hand in marriage.
"I was shocked just like the rest of the world," said Minaj. "I was cracking up laughing with the rest of the world 'cause Khaled is a master at what he does."
(Khaled insisted to Us Weekly over the weekend that he was, in fact, serious. "I want to marry her! She can take her time and think about it. At least she knows how I feel now.")
Although the former American Idol judge was even spotted wearing a huge diamond ring in Beverly Hills over the weekend, she insisted during her radio interview that the whole video was an elaborate, and hilarious, publicity stunt. "It was just another way for him to kinda give the world a glimpse on the feeling of this record. Nobody in my real life took it seriously," Minaj continued. "Everybody just hit me like, 'LOL. Yo, Khaled is crazy.'"
To boot, the fellow hip hop stars are not romantically involved -- nor will they ever be, she said. "Khaled is my brother and Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal, ya'll," she added. "Please let it go. He was kidding. He's not attracted to me, he doesn't like me. We're brother and sister."
