Oprah Winfrey has put a stop to rumors suggesting retired rock legend Tina Turner has suffered a stroke, insisting her close pal is alive and well after battling a bout of influenza.
The TV mogul-turned-actress took it upon herself to dismiss the claims of bad health after a Twitter post caught her eye on Saturday.
The message, sent from the account @CarpeDiemJBS, read: "Has anyone else hear (sic)/read that Legendary Tina Turner recently suffered a stroke?", and prompted Winfrey to respond, "@CarpeDiemJBS Tina had a bad flu weeks ago. She's recovered. And LIVING life!"
Despite the illness, Turner didn't forget that her friend was celebrating her 60th birthday last month.

Winfrey adds, "Sent me a single long-stem red rose."
Turner, who wed longtime boyfriend Erwin Bach last year, has been keeping a low profile in her adopted Switzerland since retiring in 2009.
