Oscar Nominee Jessica Chastain: I'm Not Going to Win!

USMagazine, Friday, February 24, 2012, 8:11am (PST)

Jessica Chastain isn't stressing about her Oscars speech.

The Best Supporting Actress contender (nominated for her role in The Help) told Us Weekly at the Marni for H&M launch February 17 she hasn't put any effort into it at all--and isn't planning to. The reason? "I really don’t expect to win!" Chastain laughed. (The 30-year-old's competition Sunday evening includes The Artist's Bérénice Bejo, Bridesmaids' Melissa McCarthy, Albert Nobbs' Janet McTeer--and her pal and Help costar Octavia Spencer). Continued Chastain: "I haven't had a speech prepared for any of these [events]. I'm just really excited I get to go!"

The first time Academy Award nominee--who appeared in over six films in 2011 alone--also opened up to Us about her surreal year in the spotlight. "I always feel a little bit like, 'When's the jig going to be up?" Chastain admitted.

"I was at the BAFTAs, and I saw Gary Oldman," the Debt actress continued. "I was like, 'Hi Gary,' and he goes, 'Hi Jessica.' I walked away and thought, 'What is happening to my life?'"

Earlier this week, the redheaded beauty told E! she's looking forward to sharing her big night with a very special lady--her grandmother! "It's going to be really meaningful because she's the one who took me to my first play as a little kid," the Juilliard alum shared. "She's always been so supportive of me."
