The weeks leading up to the Academy Awards are filled with pre-Oscars bashes and fashion appointments. Fun! But for the stars who'll be walking the red carpet Sunday night, Feb. 24, they're also often filled with obligatory appointments to "body workers" like aestheticians, plastic surgeons and trainers — all in attempt to look their fittest and most fabulous for Hollywood's biggest night.
Rachel Beller, author of Eat to Lose, Eat to Win and a nutritionist on The Biggest Loser, offers celebrity clients like Sheryl Crow and Laura Dern a less painful alternative for getting trim before important events.
Here are the two best tips she gives to her famous clients before they walk any red carpet:
1) To suppress your appetite (start 2-3 weeks before the big event): Add dietary fiber to your diet. "Mix 1 tablespoon of organic psyllium with 2 ounces of pomegranate or unsweetened cranberry juice and water and add a couple drops of stevia," Beller tells her clients. Drink the concoction 30 minutes before lunch and dinner.2) To de-bloat (start 5 days before the big event): Drink fennel tea: "Fill a tea ball with fennel seeds and seep in hot water. It's important before and on the big day as a de-bloater."
