Racial Claims Dismissed in Paula Deen Lawsuit
A federal judge has thrown out the racial discrimination claims alleged in a lawsuit filed against Paula Deen by a former restaurant manager.
Monday's ruling in a Savannah, GA court left intact sexual harassment claims in the lawsuit, which was filed last year by Lisa Jackson against Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers. In the lawsuit, Jackson claimed to have been subjected to sexual harassment and racist attitudes during the five years she worked at Deen and Hiers' Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House.

"We are pleased with the court's ruling today that Lisa Jackson's claims of race discrimination have been dismissed," a spokesperson for Deen told ET in a statement after the ruling. "As Ms. Deen has stated before, she is confident that those who truly know how she lives her life know that she believes in equal opportunity, kindness and fairness for everyone."
Deen, 66, revealed in a deposition for the case that she admitted using the N-word in the past and this led to a backlash that prompted Food Network to dump the celebrity chef and also led to Deen being stripped of lucrative endorsement deals.
