Reactions to Golden Globe Awards nominations
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Reactions to nominations for the 69th annual Golden Globe Awards, announced Thursday in Beverly Hills, Calif.:
— "I have a little 1-year-old who was changing my plans around this morning. He didn't care very much about the Golden Globe nominations. He had no interest. I'm kind of surprised by that." — Trent Reznor, nominated with Atticus Ross for their score for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."
— "The Golden Globe nomination for `The Artist' has left me speechless!" — Jean Dujardin, nominated for his starring role in the silent film.
— "I did great, I think, you know? There were a lot of people laughing so I guess I did it right." — Sofia Vergara, who helped announce the nominees, mispronouncing Martin Scorsese's name. Vergara was also nominated for her supporting role in TV's "Modern Family."
— "Perhaps the reason that I haven't won a Golden Globe is, I haven't showered with them. I've showered with all the Emmy voters, and that's turned out to work in my favor. I have a lot of showering to do with members of the Hollywood Foreign Press." — Bryan Cranston, nominated for his lead role on TV's "Breaking Bad."
— "My immediate reaction is I'd like to go back to sleep. This is great. Do I have to do interviews? ...I did not expect to get nominated to the point that I literally didn't get up to see if we got nominated." — Seth Rogen, a star and producer of the film "50/50," nominated for best musical or comedy.
— "It's an opportunity drink too much and try to talk to Clint Eastwood." — Judd Apatow, producer of "Bridesmaids," nominated for best picture, musical of comedy. When informed that Eastwood wasn't nominated and may not attend the ceremony, Apatow quickly changed his target to George Clooney.
— "Of course, if you want to nominate anyone, and escape with your life, then you'd better first nominate the Pope." — Jeremy Irons, nominated for his dramatic role in TV's "The Borgias."
— "I've just moved into this area very recently, so I haven't got anyone to drink champagne with, so I'll probably Skype with Pete Baynham, my writing partner who I wrote the film with, and I should think we'll have a drink on Skype, which seems appropriate because that's how we wrote most of the film." — London-based Sarah Smith, writer-director of animated feature nominee "Arthur Christmas."
— "I am going to exercise and I'm going to clean. When things are orderly, I tend to be better." — Octavia Spencer on how she plans to celebrate her supporting actress nomination for "The Help," also up for best picture, musical or comedy.
— "We sort of had him at lizard, and he was with us for the journey." — Gore Verbinski on Johnny Depp in "Rango," nominated for animated film.
— "I'm hoping to take a bath. I've been so busy that it would be so nice to take a bath and be able to process and download everything that is happening." — Shailene Woodley, nominated for supporting actress for her role in "The Descendants," also up for best picture.
— "I was sure the publicist who was texting me was on mushrooms." — Johnny Galecki, in disbelief when notified he was nominated for his work on TV's "The Big Bang Theory."
— "I think there will be some singing and some stabbing." — "Glee" and "American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy on how he plans to celebrate his shows' nominations.
