Winning the Best Picture Oscar for a flick you directed and starred in is probably a good sign for your future movie career prospects.

That's apparently why Ben Affleck, who's sported a healthy pile of facial hair since he played CIA operative Tony Mendez in "Argo," decided he no longer needed the beard he'd considered to be his good-luck charm after his film won the biggest prize of the night at Sunday's Oscars.
According to TMZ, Affleck was celebrating his victory with friends at Craig's restaurant in West Hollywood, Calif., Sunday night when he decided to step out into the hallway by the restroom and get his first clean, close shave in ages.

The lucky beard was reportedly laid to rest with the help of Ben's friends, who shared shaving duties, the site reports.
"He did it to mark the end of a chapter," a source told E! News. "It had that ceremonial quality to it."
