Review: Taylor Kitsch "Mumbles and Stumbles" Through John Carter
Opens: Friday 3/9
Us Rating: **
Someday, Taylor Kitsch may be a big action star. But the talented Friday Night Lights alum -- in his first major movie role -- mumbles and stumbles his way through this 3-D spectacle. He's an American Civil War soldier who gets mysteriously transported to Mars and ends up embroiled in an intergalactic war.
Kitsch's shortcomings aside, the sci-fi adventure is nonsensical (why do half the natives speak perfect English?), humorless and, at 137 minutes, too long. At least the flick keeps its promise when Kitsch, 30, cries out, "We will end it!"
