Farewell, Robin Sachs. The British actor who played Ethan Rayne on Buffy the Vampire Slayer has died, according to his official website. Sachs was 61, and the cause of his death has not been disclosed.
"It is with great sadness that we have to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Robin Sachs," his website reads. "Please join us in raising a glass to Robin — goodbye, dear friend. Thank you for all the laughter and the cookies. We will miss you so very much."
As Ethan Rayne on the beloved WB series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Sachs played an evil sorcerer (and nemesis to Giles, Buffy's mentor) who colluded with demons and vampires. Film credits included Ocean's Eleven and The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
He kept steady work as an actor on sci-fi shows like Babylon 5, Star Trek: Voyager, Torchwood: Miracle Day as well as the spoof flick Galaxy Quest. Sachs was also an accomplished voice actor who lent his talents to animated films and video games.
"It is with great pain&shock, Kitty & I mourn the loss of our friend Robin Sachs. All who knew him,knew how special Robin was," actor Armin Shimerman (who played Principal Synder on Buffy) tweeted.
