To the bitter disappointment of legions of "Twilight" fans, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart kept things strictly professional as they promoted the feverishly anticipated "New Moon" with co-star Taylor Lautner at Comic-Con in San Diego on Thursday. The erstwhile Bella and Edward sidestepped the inevitable questions about their rumored romance, which made the cover of last week's People magazine ("Can he steal her heart?" asked the mag), timing that apparently didn't sit well with studio execs. "It really stressed everyone out this week," an insider tells E!'s Ted Casablanca. "The promotion at Comic-Con was supposed to be very 'New Moon' oriented, not Rob and Kristen oriented. But yeah, there's still something going on there. Everyone knows it." The New York Daily News concurs, claiming the maybe honeys "cozied up" post-Con during a three-hour limo ride back to Los Angeles.

In other romance news, one Jonas brother may be off the market, but another just came back on, and suddenly all is right with the world. Just two weeks after Kevin Jonas popped the question to girlfriend Danielle Deleasa, little brother Joe Jonas, 19, has split from Camilla Belle, 22, reports E! News. The plushly eyebrowed pair were first linked last November, not long after the prepossessing starlet appeared in the band's "Lovebug" video (and shortly after Joe dumped Taylor Swift in a 27-second phone call). "Yes, it's true, they have broken up," confirms Belle's rep. "There is no third party involved, and they care deeply about each other and will remain friends."

Bad timing or really bad idea? The New York Post reports Rihanna and Chris Brown checked into separate rooms at the same swanky Manhattan hotel on Friday. The proximity of the former flames, coming so soon after Brown issued a well-scripted, if vague, public apology for "what I did" (i.e. brutally beating Rihanna back in February), raised questions as to whether he was violating his plea agreement for felony assault, which bars him from contacting his ex and requires him to remain 50 yards away from her. But Rihanna's spokeswoman insists the onetime couple never crossed paths at the Trump International Hotel & Tower. "It was just a coincidence," she tells the paper. "She has stayed there before." The rep adds that the chanteuse, who has recently been linked to Canadian rapper Drake and was supposedly spied hanging out last week in London with British musician Mr Hudson, wasn't concerned about Brown being so close by. But it seems the embattled R&B singer didn't want to take any chances. Word is, he quickly checked out of the hotel.

Something tells us Alex Rodriguez was the target of plenty of kissy-face-based teasing from his New York Yankees teammates after Saturday's hometown loss to the Oakland A's. The New York Daily News snapped A-Rod puckering up with Kate Hudson at a post-game Yankees family picnic. This public display of affection from the previously camera-shy squeezes follows their recent lovey-dovey shopping spree in Los Angeles and lap dance interlude in Miami. And while we don't profess to be any sort of body language expert, it's worth noting that in the smooching pic, A-Rod appears tense and tight-lipped, while the actress, in contrast, coyly smiles as she leans in and places one hand on his thigh. What does it mean? No idea, but we're gonna keep one eye on the relationship countdown clock, just in case.
