Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe's fairy-tale marriage ended a long time ago, but the former couple could write a textbook on how to co-parent effectively and amicably.

Divorced in 2007 after eight years of marriage, Reese and Ryan have "gotten to a really great place" and even spend time together as a family from time to time with their two children, Ryan told the Huffington Post.

He admitted, though, that it was "a feeling out process" in terms of how they've been able to amicably raise their children, Ava, 15, and Deacon, 10, as divorced parents.

"I think we've gotten to a really great place. It's going well, and she's happy and remarried, and our kids are incredible," the "Lincoln Lawyer" star said. "I'm proud of the way we've handled it and who our little people are."

Recently, the former couple even took the kids on a trip down memory lane.

"We got to meet up as a family and took a walk through Central Park with the kids, and it was funny. We were reminiscing then because we shot a lot of 'Cruel Intentions' [there], so there we were with Ava and Deacon talking, and they were tripping out on the fact that we were there shooting a movie before they were even a thought in our minds," Ryan said of 1999 film that they starred in.

The Central Park visit came while Reese was in New York promoting "Gone Girl," which she helped produce, and "Wild," the upcoming movie where she plays Cheryl Strayed, a woman torn by her mother's death who attempts to find herself while hiking solo on a brutally tough trail.
