American Idol is only through the first part of the two-part premiere and already auditioners are gunning for Ryan Seacrest's hosting job.

A.I. hopeful Shaun Kraisman failed his singing audition, but he could have nailed a Ryan Seacrest look-alike contest.

The 26-year-old sales consultant from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina impressed the judges with his spot-on impression of the multi-hyphenate TV and radio personality.

"Will you work for half of Ryan's pay?" joked Randy Jackson.

Prior to Shaun's audition, the judges started the day off on the right foot in Savannah, Georgia. Their first singer, David "Mr. Steal Your Girl" Leathers, Jr. set the bar unusually high for the competition's first day. The 17-year-old crooner, who beat last year's winner Scotty McCreery in a 2009 talent competition, was immediately awarded the green light to go to Hollywood.

But with thousands of hopefuls auditioning, the bar couldn't stay at the top for long. Things quickly took a turn for the worse as the day went on.

The first resounding no came after Jessica Whitely's feeble attempt at singing Charice's In This Song.

But the 19 year old refused to take no for an answer, vowing to meet the judges when the show heads to Texas.

Part two of the American Idol season premiere airs Thursday at 8/7c on FOX.
