Entertainment Tonight.Sandra Bullock is getting inducted into a hall of fame, but for a special reason that falls outside her remarkable movie career.

Warren Easton High School is welcoming the actress into its hall of fame on Friday, May 15, thanks to Bullock's charity work on behalf of the school, which she began supporting in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans.

"I feel honored to have been a very small part in the rebuilding of a city that I have loved since I discovered it, and like so many, have taken all it has to offer," Bullock says. "It's only right that I give back to ensure it has a future. And I have fortunately seen some of that future, graduate from Warren Easton."

The 'Miss Congeniality' star has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the school, helping fund its scholarship program, new band uniforms and the renovation of the school auditorium.

"Bullock's support of Warren Easton did more than improve our facilities," says Arthur Hardy, the school's Hall of Fame Committee Chairman. "She drew attention to our mission of public school education in post-Katrina New Orleans. Sandra did not attend Warren Easton High School, but we proudly claim her as one of our own."
